Makahiku Falls

This 184-foot waterfall can be viewed from the Makahiku Overlook along the Pipiwai Trail. This trail is accessed from the Kipahulu Ranger Station in the Kipahulu District of Haleakala National Park. The upper Kipahulu Valley was added to Haleakala National Park in 1951. This area is a reserve closed to the public and designated for its unique biological, properties. In 1969, the Park was extended to sea level from donations of coastal lands. This part of Haleakala National Park is an area of varied lands including mountain valleys, rain forests, waterfalls and views of the Pacific Ocean.
